Nissan Intelligent Mobility Powers Europe's Largest Energy Storage System in a Commercial Building

The John Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam has been recognised for its sustainable energy programme and been awarded the Eco Award at the prestigious T3 Awards.

The system combines the equivalent of 148 Nissan LEAF batteries, 4,200 solar panels and Eton power conversion units. Not only does the system provide a more sustainable energy system for the arena, but also provides a flow for second-life batteries that would other wise have to be destroyed.

The fact that it not only uses solar power but also stores it on reclaimed Nissan LEAF batteries is just a perfect mix of sustainability and recycling. It’s ingenious and ambitious, and a remarkable feat of engineering.”
